Siloam's gospel ministry in India

Work hard so God can approve you. Be a good worker, one who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly explains the word of truth. - 2 Timothy 2:15

Dear Friends,

Although Siloam uses social work, education and medical aid as a vehicle for the gospel, we also believe in giving prominence to the written and spoken word of scripture. Equipping the indigenous church in India has been one of our main aims since the organisation was established back in 1971. At the present time we are training around 50 students at our Pax Christiana Bible College & Seminary located about an hour’s drive south from Chennai formerly known as ‘Madras.’

Although Christians are in the minority in India, they do make a significant difference and have influenced legislation and opinions in the government. When listened to along with other minorities, their opinions have been greatly valued. Apart from our non-resident Principal Rev V R Geiger and our visiting Professor Dr Jurgen Bonssdorf from Germany, all our faculty are Indians with the highest academic theological qualifications. Our students are trained in a number of courses, some for as long as four years so they can obtain a Diploma in Theology, a Bachelor of Theology or a Master of Divinity, qualification. There are lesser qualifications too but equally important for enabling young men and women to be faithful stewards of the Word of God.

Each month I need to find a budget of £1,500.00 to send to my colleagues at the Pax Christiana Bible College & Seminary to subsidize the modest fees which our students scrape together from their savings or family gifts. It does take some major personal dedication to set aside three or four years of your young life in order to be trained and fully equipped to be a Christian leader. Many of our students come from north India where there is severe persecution and a measure of physical risk if you preach the gospel in the open air! But, these young men and women are so committed to Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour that they want to proclaim the good news message to others in their communities and so save them from a lost eternity.

This month I am asking you to send a special gift so that you may share in the future harvest of souls in India that our workers want to reach with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Our students are trained by faculty who have an evangelical understanding of the scriptures and a burning desire to see the lost saved from eternal damnation.

In these last days before the Lord returns, we must surely focus on reaching others with the gospel message. Although we seek to win hearts and minds by doing Christian social work and humanitarian deeds, we must never lose sight of our calling and our obedience to the great commission, “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always even to the end of the world. Amen.” Matthew 28:19-20.

This month your gift of £10.00, £20.00 or £100.00 will be used to help maintain our Pax Christiana Bible College and Seminary. If you would like to sponsor a student for £10.00 a month on a regular basis, we will gladly send you a photograph and you may correspond in English with the student to encourage them and to possibly even build up a long term relationship so that your church could one day link with them in India. Please give whatever you can, I believe the time is short and the opportunities are becoming less not only in the UK but also in India and in other parts of the world.

Please view this as an opportunity where you can really make an impact on the vast number of lost souls in India, - without actually having to go there yourself.

Please respond with a positive expression of Christian love.

Yours sincerely

Richard Norton Director - Siloam UK
